[Macon, Georgia] – Catholic private school, Mount de Sales Academy, located in Macon, Georgia, announces the launch of its 2030 Strategic Plan: Tradition Meets Tomorrow. This ambitious five-year initiative honors the school’s rich Catholic heritage while setting a bold course for the future of Mount de Sales Academy in education, student life, and alumni and community engagement.
Since its founding in 1876 by the Sisters of Mercy, Mount de Sales Academy has remained steadfast in its mission to cultivate intellectual growth, moral integrity, and Catholic values. As the school approaches its 150th anniversary, the 2030 Strategic Plan where Tradition Meets Tomorrow seeks to honor the past and build the future. Through a comprehensive six-month process of gathering quantitative and qualitative data, we identified key areas where the school excels and opportunities for meaningful growth. It will reaffirm this commitment by outlining five key goals designed to inspire, engage, and elevate every member of the Cavalier community.
The Five Key Goals for the Future
1. Expanding Students’ Experiences of Wonder and Holiness: At Mount de Sales, education extends beyond the classroom—it is a journey of faith and self-discovery. The school will strengthen its Catholic foundation, fostering a deeper sense of spirituality, virtue, and purpose in students. Through prayer, service, and spiritual formation, Cavaliers will develop the confidence and moral clarity to lead with compassion in an ever-changing world.
2. Reinvigorating Pride Through Athletics: Athletics have long been a source of discipline, resilience, and school spirit at Mount de Sales Academy. By enhancing athletic programs and facilities, the school will promote teamwork, leadership, and a renewed sense of pride in the Cavalier community, ensuring that lessons learned on the field extend into all areas of life.
3. Nurturing Community Partnerships: Rooted in Mercy and thriving in downtown Macon, Mount de Sales is strengthening its connections within the community. By establishing partnerships with local businesses, universities, and service organizations, the Academy will provide students with hands-on learning experiences that bridge academics with real-world application, reinforcing a commitment to service and leadership.
4. Strengthening Our Culture of Philanthropy: To ensure that Mount de Sales continues to thrive for generations to come, the school is fostering a culture of giving. Engaging alumni, families, and foundations will be central to securing resources that enhance academics, arts, athletics, and campus life. Every contribution will directly support students in receiving an education rooted in faith, excellence, and integrity.
5. Enhancing Our Campus Spaces: The historic Mount de Sales campus has evolved over the decades, but its commitment to safety, innovation, and excellence remains unchanged. Investments in upgraded learning spaces, cutting-edge technology, and modern athletic facilities will ensure that the Academy remains a premier institution, prepared to meet the needs of students today and in the future.
The Strategic Plan was shared with the Mount de Sales students, faculty, and alumni at this morning’s Founder’s Day assembly, celebrating 149 years of academic excellence on February 28, 2025. The Strategic Plan is available to view on our website at www.mountdesales.net/strategic-vision.
